As a member of Hope Lutheran Church, I wish to thank those in attendance at the Live Nativity held behind Veteran's Park Saturday and Sunday night.
As a part of the event, a food drive was held, with donations being given to Kitchen Table Food Shelf in Marshall.
I’m excited to say that during our two-evening event, over 500 items were collected in our donation bins!
On November 1, the Northland Region of Thrivent Financial issued a challenge titled, "Give Thanks and Give Back", whereby the first 100 groups able to collect 500 or more items would be given a $500 donation for their local food distribution site, up to a maximum pay-out of $50,000.
We were able to meet that challenge, and Marshall's food shelf will be receiving a check for $500.
We hope that you took advantage of the warm weather and calm wind, and the chance to hear the Christmas story acted-out by a few of the youth of our church.
An added bonus, was meeting Clover the donkey, cattle, sheep, and a camel that was trucked-in from Brainerd the second night of the event!
Hot dogs, popcorn, and apple cider were also served, and guests had the opportunity to go on a hay ride, to sit on bales fire-side, and to sing Christmas carols and visit with friends and family.
In addition to food donations, attendees also were able to donate new or gently-used shoes to Soles for Souls.
In closing, thanks to all who were in attendance, and thanks for sharing your busy weekend with our church family!
Thanks to Pastor Bruce, as well, for all he did to make our third annual event a success.
Merry Christmas, one and all, and God bless us, every one!
