Lyon amongst state’s financially healthy
A healthy mind and a healthy body are important, but a healthy wallet is, too!’
According the “Financial Health Index,” created by “SmartAsset,” a New York Financial technology company, Lyon County is one of the healthiest places in Minnesota.
However, Lyon County’s poverty rate is highest among the top 10 counties at 12.8 percent.
The Financial Health Index, based on factors such as debt as a percent of income, poverty rate, bankruptcy, and unemployment rate has Lyon County at 90.36 on the sale.
The top county is Nobles County at 95.15 with Redwood County second at 83.28; Houston County at 90.48 and Brown County fourth at 90.4.
The sixth through 10th counties are: Roseau, Renville, Martin, Ottertail and Fillmore.
All are rural counties. Lyon County reported .81 percent for debt as a percent of income, with .93 bankruptcies and 3.2 percent unemployment.
Among the 10 top counties, Roseau was highest with unemployment at 4.9 percent with Renville at 4.5 percent. Lyon and Nobles Counties were lowest in employment at 3.2 percent.
