Class A State Volleyball Field set

The pairings for the Class A State Volleyball Tournament next weekend have been set, and the Minneota Vikings will open the first game at 1 p.m. on Thursday against New York Mills (30-2). The Vikings got the No. 1 seed in the tournament.

The other games are: (4) Ada-Borup (30-1) vs. (5) Carlton (28-2); (2) Mayer Lutheran (21-9) vs. Medford (27-5) and (3)  Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 26-4) against New Life Academy of Woodbury (19-10).

The champions of all eight sections were chosen Saturday night.

No. 1-ranked Minneota is back in state and so is defending champion Mayer Lutheran, a 3-1 winner over No. 2-ranked Waterville-Elysian-Morristown.

New Life Academy back from last year and ranked Ada-Borup got past Sacred Heart, 3-2 with a 15-11 win in the fifth set.

SECTION ONE — Medford over Bethleham Academy, 3-0

SECTION TWO — Mayer Lutheran over Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, 18-25; 25-21; 25-22; 25-21

SECTION THREE — Minneota over Adrian, 25-16; 25-14; 25-17

SECTION FOUR — New Life Academy of Woodbury over Nova Classical Academy, 25-20; 25-18; 25-18

SECTION FIVE — Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa over Pine River-Backus 25-22; 25-20; 18-25; 25-20

SECTION SIX — New York Mills over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley, 25-21; 25-21; 25-22

SECTION SEVEN — Carlton over Deer River 25-15; 25-19; 25-9

SECTION EIGHT — Ada-Borup over Sacred Heart 20-25; 18-25; 25-21; 27-25; 15-11
