Fastpitch team splits with Dawson-Boyd
The Minneota-Canby softball team lost a 2-1 decision to Dawson-Boyd but also collected an 8-2 win to split against the Blackjacks at Minneota on Wednesday.
Brooklyn Nelson was the hard-luck loser in the 2-1 game. She struck out two batters and gave up just four hits. But Dawson-Boyd scrathed out a run in the fifth on a double by Ashley Boastho and single by Kaia Jordahl.
Minneota had tied it 1-1 in the fourth when Emily Pohlen came home on a hit by Kaylee Johnson.
In the other game, Sydney Larson pitched the win, giving up six hits.
Minneota-Canby got the bats rolling in the first inning when theys cored two runs.Abby Hennen had three hits, scored three runs and knocked in a run for Minneota-Canby.
Katie Konold ripped off a double and Hennen knocked her in during a two-run sixth inning rally that put the game away.
