Minneota-Canby softball ranked second in 3AA North Playoffs
The Section 3AA Pairings are in and the Co-Camden Conference Champion Minneota-Canby Vikings have drawn the No. 2 seeding in in the Northand will play Montevideo at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 in Minneota.
The overall No. 1 North seed in the double elimination tournament was Morris Area-Chokio/Alberta.
In the South, Pipestone Area drew the No. 1 seed and Luverne took the second spot.
Here is the first-round of action on Tuesday, May 21:
Morris Area-Chokio/Alberta (1) bye
Minnewaska Area (5) vs. Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at Morris, 4 p.m.
Montevideo (7) vs. Minneota-Canby at Minneota, 3 p.m.
Benson (6) vs. New London-Spicer (3) at Minneota, 4:30 p.m.
Redwood Valley (8) at Pipestone Area (1), 3 p.m.
Windom (5) vs. Jackson County Central (4) at Pipestone, 4:30 p.m.
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (7) at Luverne (2), 3 p.m.
Martin County Central (6) vs. St. James Area (3) at Luverne, 4:30 p.m..
Winners play at the same sites, the same day:
Morris Area/CA vs. Minnewaska or Atwater-C. 5:30 p.m.
Minneota-Canby or Montevideo vs. New London-Spicer or Benson, 6 p.m.
Pipestone or Redwood Valley vs. Windom or JCC, 6 p.m.
Luverne or TMB vs. Martin CW or St.James Area.
The winners in the first round will advance to the second round that same day. Winners from the second game will advance to the quarterfinals. Losers of the first game are eliminated and losers of the second game will be seated in the losers bracket. Games will move to Marshall on Saturday, May 25 and the winners and losers brackets will continue through the championship game at 5 p.m., Thursday, May 30 in Marshall. A second game will be played following that game, if the undefeated team loses the contest.
The winner will advance to the Minnesota State High School Class AA Tournament on Thursday and Friday, June 6-7 at Caswell Park in Mankato.
